Meet Toby, My Editor-in-Chief

Toby the Editor at work, making sure I don’t have any plot holes, typos or huge grammar mistakes.

Let me introduce my live-in editor, Toby. When he's not sleeping on top of my bookcase, he is on my desk, carefully watching the words going up on the screen.

He’s pretty good at holding me accountable for my word count for the day, and watches out for any plot holes, typos and sloppy grammar. When one of those pop up he points out my mistake by putting his paw on the screen and gives me that throaty meow sound. (Don’t tell him I use Grammarly and two other editing programs to catch my sloppy writing!). Sometimes he will stand, put his front paws on the arms on my chair and stare me down until I quit writing and scratch his ears. I never know just how long I will be scratching him while trying desperately to remember where that last sentence in my writing was about to go. He loves to sit at the window and try to catch the birds the fly from one tree to the other in the front yard - yet another diversion from my writing to watch his crazy antics. Like jumping from the window sill to my desk to the top of the bookstore. I swear, one day he is going to miss one of those jumping spots!

“Oh were you reading this? It’s just that I am desperate for a nap right here and right now.”

Toby asked me to pass on to you the above sentence. What a great time to write in peace - so off I go!

First - How crazy is your pet?

Psst: Do you talk to him?

Until the next time,

Toby and Kathy
